new car. bmw vs lexus?

ok so here is the thing.im 18 and getting a new car.ive been driving for 5 years (i know thats illegal but i did it anyway) so what im trying to say is im fairly experienced and a very safe driver.i actually enjoy going slow..now im looking to buy my own car because ill be going to college.im actually commuting 140 miles per day (back and forth) (its a long story)
so my cousin is selling his bmw330xi 2004 V6 fully loaded sports package car with 80,000 miles (it was used when he bought it also)
but my dad thinks that used cars are not the way to go and he wanted to buy me some sort of lexus sedan with a v4 engine if possible.
now what do you think i should do?
also, which one would have a worse impact on my insurance?
which car is safer? (ill be driving on a very bad road to school)
can anyone please help me? since i am very not smart when it comes to cars and such

Personally, i would go with the BMW simply because it’s faster; although, both my parents have a Lexus.

There is nothing wrong with a used car, but i would try to get one less than 80K miles since you’ll be driving around 140 miles per day.

Now here are the answers to your questions:
1. The BMW would cost more insurance.
2. The Lexus is an all-around safer car.

I gave you the information, the rest is for you to decide.

P.S.: There’s no such thing as a V4 engine, it’s just called a 4-Cylinder. (It goes from V6 – V12, the number is the amount of cylinders, the “V” is the shape in which the pistons are arranged.)

Hope I helped a little,
