Is my vehicle safe to drive?

I drive a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. I bought the car about 6 months ago. It has about 48,000 miles on it. It has been mechanically sound up until now.

Lately when I put my car in park and it is still running ill hear a gurgling sound coming from behind the dashboard. And yesterday i had my car on for about 5 minutes and it said it was overheating the needle was all the way on the H. This has never happened before the needle never goes past the middle line on the temperature thing in the dashboard. My boyfriend checked all the fluids and had to refill the coolant. I can’t get it to mechanic until Wednesday. Is my car safe to drive until then? What could be wrong with it? Is it going to be expensive to fix?

I had the same problem once. There may be a hole in your coolant tank. These are made of plastic. It will be safe as long as you keep the coolant filled. Actually, it is low cost to fix this. Just buy a new tank and have someone replace it. if this does not fix the problem, could be your hoses. probably your tank though. If you take it to a garage, you will have to pay labor costs which will be more than the part itself. If you don’t know anyone who works on cars, then go to a garage and pay the price, remember this is not just your car but your life as well.
