2010 Safest Vehicles

My huband and I are planning on having a baby. Suggestions for getting ready?
Hey guys, I’m 22 years old & my husband is 23. I’m on Nuvaring. We have been safe because he had a baby at 17 with his ex so he knows he isn’t ready for another baby yet. We’ll be together three years in January & got married in July this year (2010). I love him with all my heart. I have no children. I would like your suggestions on getting financially prepared & emotionally prepared. We own our house & I will be done with school in about a year & a half. He has a good, stable job & so do I. We have two dependable vehicles & life is good so far. What would you all suggest for timing? When did you have kids? Were you ready? Our annual income is about 50,000
It sounds like your situation is much more ideal than most. Good for you, wanting to make sure you are ready! Since you have a year & a half left of school, that sounds like a good time marker to me. Keep in mind, with hormonal birth control, it sometimes takes a couple months for your system to go back to normal.
Emotionally, if you have a religious affiliation, your spiritual leader might have a parenting class or be willing to visit with you and your husband to help you evaluate where you are emotionally. Spend lots of time with your husband thinking and talking about this. Don’t push him, but make sure you’re on the same page. Financially, it is nice to have a little money saved to purchase necessities leading up to the baby’s arrival. Here’s a good way to do that: Make up a budget as you would if you were raising the baby. Include normal items plus everything you’d spend in a month on baby-related costs (diapers, formula, etc) and spend according to this budget for at least 2 or 3 months. This will give you a good estimate of what you can realistically expect financially once the baby arrives. Put aside the amount you would spend on baby-related expenses; it will be a great start toward saving for those costs and take the edge off the initial expenses of preparation.
Good luck! Half of what makes a good parent is sincerely wanting the best for your child and doing all you can to provide it. Sounds like you’ve got a terrific head start.

Rain was the key word for Riverbend last night, or shall I say lightning.
