Increasing HP and Torque? 07 Acura TL?
I was thinking about trading in my car b/c of the lack in torque, but my friend suggested a supercharger. Is this a safe bet to increase HP and torque WITHOUT breaking the car? Also, I don’t want my car looking like some ride from the “Fast and Furious” movie, just the performance without noise. Is this impossible? Any advice would be appreciated.

Here’s what happens if you up the HP:
1) Your car is no longer going to handle the power well. The chassis, suspension, brakes, steering, and transmission was only designed to handle so much. It is not going to work as well unless you upgrade a lot of stuff. This will cost you money that you will never get back.
2) By making these modifications you are going to invalidate any warranty you may have on your car. This includes what I call an implied warranty. Even after your official warranty is up, there is a certain responsibility or liability that a car company has. So if you car bursts into flames for example, you can sue. But if you have modified the car, they will probably not have any liability.
3) Your insurance will be void. So you either have to admit to them that you upgraded the car, and get a boy racer expensive policy, or you will have to not tell them, and hope they never find out. If they do it would be reason not to pay a claim.
4) Depreciation. The market is very suspicious of self-modified cars. They are not going to trust the quality of your work. This will be reflected in the resale value of your car.
So these are the reasons I am not a fan of modifying a car. If you want more HP and torque, get a real sports sedan like a BMW 335i. A BMW versus an Acura is like night and day.
