Traffic Signs – All You Need to Know
You have probably noticed all of those traffic signs while you are driving to your office. Ever wonder how those little signs help in the management of traffic? Traffic signs not only keep the roads safe but also help the drivers to reach their destinations safely. These signs also warn drivers in case there are any dangers on the road ahead.
We can figure out where to take a turn and where to slow down because of these signs. Traffic signs can help find gas stations, hotels, and restaurants. Traffic signs are not the same in all the countries and in the United States – they are different from one state to another.
The most used traffic signs throughout the US are the STOP, speed limit, and road danger varieties. While STOP signs tell people to stop, road danger signs inform people that they are perhaps going to enter an area of falling rocks, steep hills, or road closures. Across the nation most of the transportation departments are buying lit roadway signs so that the drivers can see them during the night or in any bad weather condition. To make them more visible they are placed on the pole that the traffic light is attached to.
Traffic signs, including handicapped parking, no idling, no trucks, and no parking are also important. In the US these mainly come in red, yellow, green, and white. Most of the green ones are usually found on the national highways. Without these signs driving would be dangerous and tedious.
Another important sign is a rail-road crossing symbol. To warn the drivers of railroad tracks crossing through the roadway this contains a circle with an X on it and with an R on either side of the X. This is attached on the light stand to warn the motorists of an arriving train.
