Where, statistically, is the safest seat on an aircraft?
After the Indonesian plane crash in which a number of people survived the impact, I was wondering if anyone had the expertise to tell me in which seats one is most likely to survive. Presumably this depends on whether the aircraft is taking off or landing?
I have been told that the best place to sit is within seven rows of an emergency exit. This enables the best possible chance of being able to exit the plane should an emergency arise. Any further away and the longer it takes you to exit the plane, thus putting you in more danger.
