What is an authentic website to post pictures to get valuation for antiques?
I have an old brass bellhandle (bell with handle) that my father found at an auction in 1981. It looks old and asian of some sort, the handle is in the shape of a monkey or god looking human that has a different face on each side. I would love to post a picture and get an idea of what this is and what it is worth. What websites are safe?

Seems like there should be an “Antiques Internet Show”, or something like that. About.com has an advice page, with tips. There is a site below, I am sure you will pay there. For Paintings you use Artprice.com, but it costs. Most antiques are in a category, and there are sites for many of the possible categories. I usually just compare an item to something someone else is selling. This seems like a Void that needs to be filled.

A Practical Approach to Cleaning and Storing Your Antique Jewelry
Any form of antique jewelry and vintage jewelry should be treated with extra care because in antique pieces the intricate casings sometimes become weak over a period of time which can result in slipping away of the precious stones thereby significantly diminishing the value of the item. Therefore a proper cleaning and care technique should be followed.
Before we go further with the cleaning process it is important to first access the nature of the metal that is used in the jewelry item. Mostly antique jewelry is made up of gold. Gold is one type of metal that does not require any kind of fancy cleaning agent. We can simply use warm soapy water to clean them. But little care should be taken if the jewelry piece is studded with any precious or semi-precious stones.
In that case it is advisable to use a soft toothbrush preferably a baby toothbrush to clean those delicate areas that are significantly hard to reach. Abrasive and strong chemicals should be avoided while cleaning these pieces of jewelry especially if they contain stones because hard chemicals can easily corrode the metal and reduce the clarity of the gems or stones.
However jewelry that is silver coated also needs to be handled with extra care because silver plating is less durable and gets tarnished easily. Normally the luster and shine of silver items can easily be regained by polishing them with a soft cloth.
But in case of hard to remove tarnishes, special silver cleaning solutions can be bought from the market. But in spite of all these efforts if your jewelry does not regain its original sparkle and sheen then you can always head for professional jewelry cleaning solutions.
Whatever process you adopt for cleaning your precious antique jewelry items, always make sure that it dries out completely before you store it as the slightest bit of dampness can lead to rust and corrosion and therefore damage your jewelry.
Any kind of gold or silver antique jewelry should be wrapped in acid-free paper and stored in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. You can either use home-safe lock boxes or the traditional wooden ones to store them, and that is completely your choice. However to minimize the chances of theft and loss, it is recommended that you invest in a home-safe lock box so that you can keep your treasured possessions safe and secure.
A great deal of care and attention should be paid towards cleaning and storing antique jewelry items because they are one such treasured possession which is passed down from one generation to another as family heirlooms.
