Would I be able to get a dark tan using a fake airbrush spray?
I would like to darken my skin but do not want to risk the potential side effects of regularly using sunbeds to achieve the colour that I’m looking for. So I’m thinking about going for the safer option of attending a tanning salon and getting a tan airbrushed on. I don’t want the bronze look that a lot of English girls are after, as I’m a guy I would much rather have a darker shade of brown. Do you know if this is possible with fake tans?
With air brush tanning the amount of DHA (Di-Hydroxy-Acetone) that is contained in the tanning solution will determine the intensity of your tan. DHA, derived from plant sources, is the active ingredient in tanning solutions. If you are fair-skinned, a lower DHA concentration will be most effective, while deeper tones require a higher DHA concentration.
When you go in for a spray tan, usually the experienced airbrush artist will help you choose the right color for your skin type. It usually takes a few hrs after application for the skin to start tanning. It might be best to start out with a lower concentration and then follow up with a couple more sessions to get the tan you desire.
These airbrush tans usually last about a week and then start fading, so you might want to have some type of tan extender lotion on hand to keep the tan a bit longer. Good Luck!!
