Bodum Pavina Double-Wall Thermo Glasses, Set of 2

These glasses are lightweight because they are made of borosilicate glass – a strong heat resistant glass used to make scientific lab glass. It is much stronger than regular glass so it doesn’t need to be as thick to be just as durable. With double wall construction, coffee, tea and other drinks stay hot longer. When drinking cold drinks, the dual layer construction works in the opposite direction…

I would like to restain my coffee table and end tables. Should I do it in the cold garage or basement? Safe?

I don’t know if it’s safe to do in my house. Not sure if it’s to cold for the garage…I’m in Chicago!!

From years of refinishing antiques, I would suggest you working in your basement. I am in Ontario, and it is too cold here to be restaining/refinishing anything anywhere that is not heated. The stain and top coat need to be applied to normal room temperature pieces and need to be kept at a normal temperature too to work properly.
If your pieces are cold, then allow them to warm up in the basement overnight before working on them. I use the basement a lot throughout the winter to refinish pieces and it is completely safe. Try to stay away from water based stains (they have a tendancy to raise the grain in the wood and have less play time to them). Hope they come out great!!
