Why would Jiffy Lube put 10w 30 in A engine that says to use 5w 30?
Hello I just had A Oil Change done at Jiffy lube on my 1993 Crown Victoria p71 it has 140k on it & runs fine with no problems, Before they actually changed the oil they asked me what kind of oil would I like to use I told them I would go for the High mileage synthetic oil , it cost more but I decided maybe it would be better for my car. When I got home I looked at my receipt & my owners manual to see Ford Recommends using 5w 30 in this engine But on my receipt I see Jiffy Lube put 10w 30 in my car, Is this Bad for my engine why would they use A different oil grade than what the manufacture recommends? is it safe?
I live in Washington State & I have to make A Cold start every morning this winter I don’t know if this is A factor when choosing A motor oil.
Not a big deal. Unless your car requires a specific synthetic blen. (ex: most ford cars require 5w20. If you put any other weight oil in you will get a slight rough idle. With your year car, not a bid problem. A good rule of thumb espically on older cars with high miles. In cold weather states run a thinner oil weight in the winter becasue oil is thicker on start up in cold weather. For hot climates a thicker weight oil would be the way to go. The hoter the oil the thinner the vescosity
