how to break a 40dpf master lock?

Hi, I have an old harley chained up at my place to keep it safe and of course I used the best lock, a 40dpf pin tumbler master lock padlock. So heres the problem, someone tried to break it by drilling out the keyhole, well anyone who owns one knows these locks are virtually indestructable. Now I can’t open the lock, I bought a new lock but I can’t replace it unless I get the old one off. I tried using my metal saw but it just dulled the blade. We’ve been getting alot of rain lately and I want to put my bike in so it doesn’t rust. Can anyone help, anyway to cut or break it? Thanks

Safe Locksmiths

It usually takes many years of experience before a locksmith develops the skills to be able to get into a Safe without using the key or a combination, therefore it’s a skill for which they can command quite high prices when needed, especially if the Safe they are asked to open is particularly difficult.

The amount of individuals in the UK who own a safe to store their valuables would probably surprise many people, however when you think about it, the UK today is mostly an affluent society. Many of us own items that have a value running into thousands of pounds. You only have to think about the cost of an Iphone to realise that the value of objects even in less well-off homes is comparatively high, so imagine the many thousands of pounds worth of valuables which are usually kept in more affluent homes, it makes sense to keep many of them in a safe out of the reach of would be intruders and burglars.

One problem with safes though is that they can develop faults which require the skills of a Safe Locksmith. Fortunately unlike media portrayal in movies it’s not nearly as easy for anyone to crack open a safe as we are led to believe so a safe locksmith is required to open one without causing damage to both it and the valuables it contains.

Sometimes a safe can only be opened by drilling into the lock, this has to be done by an expert Safe locksmith who knows the exact points to drill, otherwise there is the real problem that a safe which probably cost a great deal of money to buy is irreparably ruined. The same goes for a combination type lock, an expert locksmith should always be used to ensure no further damage is done to the safe when trying to open it.

One reason why safes stop working is because the owners have failed to have it serviced on a regular basis. A safe is just like any other piece of equipment, if it’s not cared for properly it won’t give the lifetime service required and expected. A qualified Safe Locksmith can ensure years of life is added to a safe by giving it a regular overhaul and ensuring it’s in tip top condition. Maintenance of your safe is important and your Safe Locksmith will give you lots of tips on how to look after it in between his visits.

Another way in which a safe locksmith could be useful is if you bought a Safe cheaply but without the combination. A good locksmith will either be able to figure out the combination for you or be able to drill into the safe so they can remove the old combination and insert a new one. Good safes can be very expensive and if you’ve bought one at a knock down price, then the cost of having the combination replaced by a Safe Locksmith could well be very good value for money.
