How many times is it safe to Drop my Clutch or Stall my Car?
I have a 2007 Jetta, that has 72,000 Miles on it. It’s Stick Shift and I’m learning to drive it, and during my 1st lesson yesterday I stalled the car 4 times by not giving enough Gas when coming out of a stopped brake position. My question is how many times is this safe to do before I kill the Clutch. The Car has a new Clutch in it.
Exactly 5. Once you stall it the 6th time the car will explode.
Really though clutch life on a stock engine is almost completely dependent on the driver. Someone who rides it and abuses it can wreck one in a few hundred miles. A good driver can get one to last well over 100k miles.
