Digital in-room safe broken in to – how’s this possible??

Physical break in is very difficult and was not used in this case.
I have heard that a substance could be placed on the keypad to track which new safe code is programmed in to the safe by the new hotel guest.

I was thinking they might use a UV gel which could be seen under black light but not in the regular light spectra. Then once the thief sees which keypads have been touched, they can use several permutations to figure out the safe code.

Any ideas???

They can use fingerprint powder to see the most reason numbers touched that aren’t too smeared and figure out the sequence by that. Especially since, after most guests, the maid would clean, and that may include the safe. So it may actually make it very easy to use a powder to raise the fingerprints on the keypads. Just a thought….
