Could these make for some ”common sense” gun laws?
Here is what I hope for in terms of gun laws:
– Ban all assault weapons — i.e., all guns the sole (or primary) purpose of which is to kill fellow humans.
– No guns of any kind for convicted felons.
– No guns of any kind for mentally ill.
– Automatic felony conviction for violating gun laws.
– Tough sentencing treatment for all violators: incarceration for all violators for re-hab purposes (dealing strictly with feelings of hostility, anger management and antil-social behavior patterns) till professionally determined to be safe to return to society.
Is this an ideal solution? Not hardly. For many this would not be an appropriate program. However, for most it would, and the violent crimes and homicide rate would dramatically decline.
Thats just one simple solution to the gun violence epidemic facing our country. Almost guarranteed to be an improvement over our present system.
