In light of the recent school shooting how can we as adults protect our kids from violence in the schools?
As a parent I have to ask how can we keep our kids safe at school when their is so much violence in America today. I personally think schools should be locked or somthing. Something has to be done but what?It seams like in the news latley their have been so many school shooting. Troubled adults kids,and guns a deadly combo. What can we do? Mom of two in Kansas.

Not sure where you live but on our news last night they did a study of our local schools safety procedures which for most included locking the doors and/or having a monitor or camera and intercom at the only open door. I’m in a city of about 85,000.
Short of homeschooling your children and never letting them leave your home, you can’t protect them 24 hours a day. But talking to them about what is going on at a level they can understand helps. As a parent often times we just hold our breath as we have to let them go.
Talk to your school and insure they have safety procedures in place and if they do not then take the initiative and make them!
Next we need to look at why this is happening and yes, it is a multilayered answer for sure. But as far as kids who go in with guns how about we all raise our kids to respect each other and tolerate those who are different and teach them not to be mean to each other and also to report bullies and harassment they see and most importantly if they think or hear something out of the ordinary to speak up and tell someone.
