Why Hasn’t Rudy Giuliani Read the 9-11 Commission Report?
During the “First in the South” GOP debate in South Carolina, one thing was made clear: Rudy Giuliani does not understand how to keep America safe.
When Congressman Ron Paul, who has long served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, explained how 50 years of American interventionism in the Middle East has helped compromise our national security, Giuliani interrupted saying he had “never heard anything so absurd.” This statement is particularly troubling coming from the former mayor who tries to cast himself as a security expert, since Dr. Paul’s point comes directly from the bi-partisan 9-11 Commission Report.
“Rudy Giuliani has tip-toed around the issues of abortion, guns and marriage. The only issue he has left is security, and he doesn’t even get that right,” said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “It is clear from his interruption that former Mayor Giuliani has not read the 9-11 Commission Report and has no clue on how to keep America safe.”
Ron Paul never said that the 911 attacks were our fault. And “IF” Gulliani read the report it sure doesn’t show and he didn’t seem to get much out of it or else he quickly forgot about it.
I like the answer about how Ron Paul was noticed in the view. I did watch replay of the South Carolina Republican debate and I was amazed after hearing (or maybe I read it in yahoo answers) that Ron Paul said “we had it coming” NOT TRUE!!!!! Ron Paul NEVER said “we had it coming”. He simply referred to our way over excessive foreign intervention in the meddling of the affairs and problems of other countries.
Ron Paul is the most honest and straightforward elected official I have ever heard. I was very impressed with John Edwards on meet the press and his honesty looking Tim Russert in the eye and saying something to the effect of yes, to make sure every american had health coverage that would require a tax increase. But Ron Paul is awesome in his honesty and candor with the american people. He needs to be heard. I have gone from being an Edwards supporter and wanting to call myself a Democrat to longing to continue to be a member of the Republican party which has Ron Paul as one of it’s Presidential candidates and hopefully Ron Paul as its nominee.
I have been so distressed by our involvement in Iraq. I would have traveled to Washington DC to be part of the protest against the Iraq war earlier this year if I had been able to have the time off of work and the funds to travel to Washington DC. Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks of 911 and the lives of valiant men and women in our military are NOT worth (dying for) whatever it is we are accomplishing over there. Iraq NEVER attacked us and I think that enough of our military have died over there. Bring our troops home now!!!!!
