Firearm legality question for California?
Is it legal to carry a loaded gun in your vehicle if it’s contained in a secure and locked safe in the vehicle?
The vehicle is a standard cab pickup. So it will be kept in the cab in reasonable reach. Not kept in a trunk.
People often seem to get confused over California firearms law. It does not matter WHERE you keep it. It is illegal to possess a loaded firearm in California anywhere other than in your home or business, at a camp site, or in an unincorporated area where shooting is permitted. If the firearm is concealable upon the person, you can carry it UNLOADED in a vehicle so long as it is NOT concealed. If it IS concealed, then it must be in the trunk a locked box other than the glove or utility compartment, AND not loaded. (A long gun can be concealed in a vehicle, but STILL cannot be loaded.)
