Gun Safes in an Apartment?
I’ll be moving into my first place next month, and am struggling to come up with realistic solutions to the gun storage dilemma imposed by the fact that I won’t be able to reinforce the floor where I would put a safe.
I’m looking into steel gun cabinets, but I’m not sure if it would just be better to look for a something that at least has the appearance of a traditional safe, but is on the lighter side.
Assuming a 10-gun capacity, about how heavy of a safe do you think I could get away with without having to reinforce the floor underneath? Mind you it will be full of guns and ammo, too.

On first floor there should not be any issues at all since its probably on a slab.In upper floors 200-300lbs should be fine. There are plenty of safes they weight that or less. You may not have Fire protection….or limited fire protection…but, a good strong steel safe. You can look at several types and they usually list the weight.Fort Knox,Browning,Remington. In a well braced floor or corner 400lbs may work….just watch the floor. I have seen floor swag under constant pressure after a long time.Using a larger flat platform may help to distribute the weight like some longer boards or sheet of plywood or maybe a half sheet.
