Keeping Your Handguns Safely Locked Up But Easy to Reach in Case You Need Them
Keeping Your Handguns Safely Locked Up
But Easy to Reach In Case You Need Them
Many of us keep handguns in our homes for the personal protection of our families. Unfortunately, we are often faced with the dilemma of how to best store our handguns safely, to prevent tragic accidental use by our children and without sacrificing the critical time necessary for us to reach them in the event we need to use them.
It is always shocking to hear about shooting accidents involving young children who were playing with their parent’s handguns left unprotected. I always ask the same question. How in the world can a parent be so stupid as to leave a handgun unprotected when he or she has a child living under their roof?
As a hunter and owner of many long-arms and handguns, I have a special interest in keeping handguns in my home, locked up where my children, (3 sons between the ages of 8 and 18) can’t reach them. I also know that handguns locked up where they can’t be immediate accessed, are useless in the event of a home invasion.
For years I have listened to friends who own handguns tell me they leave their guns in the closet, under the mattress, in their bed stands and drawers. Many argue that “their” children would never play with them. Others are convinced that as long as they keep their handguns unloaded with their ammunition locked in another location, they are safe. Seems to me, those types of “solutions” are worse than ridding your home of handguns entirely. The risks of an accident remain present and the likelihood of getting to your gun, unlocking it, getting to your ammunition and loading it, all while under stress, makes your chances of defending yourself are slim.
The solution: a SecureLogic Wall Vault http://www.watchdogsuperstore.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=228
The SecureLogic® Wall Vault is easily installed within the cavity of your bedroom wall next to your bed. They are recessed into the wall and bolted in, making it virtually impossible to steal. Additionally, because it only extends beyond the wall by less than 1 inch, it can be concealed behind a decorative picture.
Here’s how they work. The wall vault is opened in less than 3 seconds by simply punching in your 4 digit code on the keypad, or in the case of the Biometric Vault, inserting your finger into the Biometric reader. The front door immediately and silently drops down allowing you to grab your loaded gun. Unless the intruder is already inside the same room where you are, you will have accessed your handgun ready to use.
Theft and accidental shootings are not rare and occur thousands of times each year. The primary cause…handguns left unprotected in a home. Why risk your family’s safety when you can lock your handguns in a safe, secure and easily accessible wall vault.
