If I have been diagnosed Bi Polar will that stop me from buying a handgun here in Texas?
I don’t want a CHL i just want to carry in my vehicle. I have a 12 gauge Mossberg pistol grip under my bed for home defense, and just want a little pistol. If you talked to me in person you’d think i had no mental health issue ever, I’m never angry, take all my meds, etc. I’m the safest person with guns there is, raised around them by my grandpa since a young child.
Assuming you otherwise qualify for and abide by the general laws of handgun ownership, I am not aware of any specific laws directed to persons with bi-polar disorder.
Just out of curiosity, what brought up this question in the first place? For example, how would a handgun store even know you have bi-polar disorder? It would be a HIPAA violation for a health professional to disclose such information. So unless you disclose it voluntarily, I don’t understand how anyone would know. The question just seems very odd.
