Why do children pay sales tax if they aren’t a “citizen”?
According to law, children aren’t legally emancipated until they turn 18. Children have absolutely no rights as a minor, but yet, when they buy something, they have to pay sales tax to a government that does not legally protect them.
The only “rights” I’ve heard people argue is the right to a safe home with proper nutrition. This obviously isn’t a right; there are many children who continue to suffer in abusive, unloving homes because the foster care system “is overloaded”. If this were a right, children wouldn’t suffer abuse and neglect while the government sits by. THIS is NOT a right! It is common sense!
So, I repeat my question. Why must children, most of which have no regular income, unless 16+ pay sales tax?
Sales tax is imposed on a purchase and it is imposed on all buyers whether citizen or not.
