If you have to wait until the last day (April 1st) to hear back from a college, does that mean you’re denied?

Generally speaking. I want to go to Binghamton and was told that everyone should hear back by April 1st. Well, April 1st is fast-approaching and I still haven’t heard back from Binghamton and many of my friends have already been accepted (every few weeks a friend or two will hear back from them). I’m not sure where this leaves me, seeing as I applied EOP (for economically disadvantaged students) so I’m not sure if that’s why I haven’t heard back yet, but what I really want to know is whether it’s a safe bet that I’ll be denied if I haven’t heard back yet. The longer I wait, the more I feel like I’m just going to be one of many rejection letters received on April 1st.

Definitely not! The colleges receive over 30,000 applicants and there are limited number of admissions officers. Relax, take a cold glass of lemonade and chill. I’m waiting to hear back from schools and it clearly doesn’t mean that I’m rejected.

Good luck!
