I was keeping my 3 guns in the gun safe with my step dad’s guns, but due to the large armory we have guns kept falling on each other and getting dinged up, so I brought my guns to my room. This is how I store them…
They (shotgun, rifle, muzzleloader) are on a waist-high shelf in my closet too high for little kids to get to (like when my little cousins come over). They each have a trigger lock. I keep 2 spare keys in the gun safe and one in the back of my cabinet thing in my room where only I and my step dad know where it is. All ammunition, primers, powder, and other things like that are locked in the gun safe that has an electronic lock that only I, my mom, and my step dad know the combination to. Is this a safe set up to you think? I know the guns are safer in the gun safe, but I don’t want a bunch of scratches on my guns and stuff. Thanks.

For my piece of mind, I would find damage free way to fit them in your step dad’s safe, purchase an inexpensive safe of your own, or at a minimum, lock the closet. My dad had a guy break into his house about 6 years ago. He grabbed everything valuable he could quickly find and easily carry, including my dad’s prized .44 Mag revolver. If it was in a safe, or a securely locked closed, my dad would still have his .44.
