A 2005 Dodge Neon SXT … RENTAL??
I’m turning 16 soon and interested in a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT. Here is a photo:

Anyway, recently did a carfax, everything turned out okay but it did state it was a rental car? Would this be a safe purchase? They are asking $8400 but said they would negotiate [which we will do!]
It has 52,538 miles on it, automatic, 4 Cyl., Power Steering, Power Windows, Keyless Entry, Compact Disc, Map Lights, Rear Defroster, Cruise, Power Door Locks, etc. Just to name a few features!
What do you think about this? Would this be a good first car? Would it be safe? Do you think rental cars would have been taken care of? The carfax did feature a lot of maintenance, so I think it was taken good care of. Also just got new tires! We’re hoping to go look at it soon.
Also! Don’t say anything about the Neons having no power, etc. I’m not looking for some race, speed car. Just something to get me from A to B. Power means nothing to me!!

I would say go for it. You are looking at a well equipped car that is only 3 years old for under $10k. Unreal. I’d grab it before it is gone. A very big plus is the fact that it does show a lot of maintenance done to it. Just remember, it will only show up if they put the info into carfax. There may have been an accident which was not reported. And having new tires might raise a red flag. If the alignment was messed up or the frame got bent, it would show on the tires but not new ones. Just be on your guard and check for any kind of paint over-spray. Check even on the gas cap.
Personally I think you will be OK. Rental agencies generally take really good care of their cars and sell with low miles.
