Newton Safest
Is south Boston around Tremont Street and W. Newton Street safe to stay?
My wife and I were planning on visiting my friend who lives right around Tremont St and W. Newton St in south Boston – I am not sure about this and surrounding area.
Is is safe to stay around here and walk around during day or night? How about the possibility of taking public transport around here also?
If I should stay away from here, I will go somewhere else that is safer and stay in a nice hotel.
Any help is appreciated!
First of all, Tremont and West Newton is in the South End, not in South Boston. (The two areas are very different and not that close to each other.) It’s a fine neighborhood during the day, and mostly OK during the evening this time of year. Just watch where you go. Don’t go past Washington Street to the south or Mass Ave to the west: that goes into Roxbury, one of the sketchiest parts of the city. Towards Huntingdon and Dartmouth are the better directions, taking you into Back Bay.
As to Public Transportation: You are only a couple of blocks from the Prudential Center stop on the Green Line. Just look up and walk towards the tall building, you should be able to see it. You are also near the Silver Line on Washington, which is not a subway but a glorified bus line. You are a bit farther from the Back Bay Station on the Orange line.
If you are out late drinking, spring for a cab. It’s cheaper than a hotel.
Skincare Products – How to choose an effective product
What to look for in a skincare product.
The best skincare products leave your skin clearer, smoother, and
more youthful looking. But not all skincare regimens are created equal. So how
do you tell what will be effective for your skin, and what wont? Here are some
things to look out for when deciding the best treatment options:
-
Water is not near the top of the ingredients list…preferably not in the ingredients at all. Many skincare companies use water as a filler, reducing the amount of moisturizing vitamins and minerals that actually absorb into your skin to heal and soften. -
Harsh surfactants – Surfactants are the major ingredient of most cleaning products. They do the tough work on stains, dirt, and oil. Many skincare companies use surfactants in cleaners to effectively remove makeup and oil from your skin, but this is also extremely harmful to skin cells and can cause major irritation. Some common surfactants found are: Sodium lauryl sulfate, dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide, and potassium. -
Alcohol and alcohol derivatives – Alcohol is used by many cheap products to kill skin surface bacteria, but at a cost to your skin. If any of the ingredients end in alcohol or just –ol, then these can be irritating to your skin. Just like putting alcohol on a cut or scrape, these products can cause stinging and redness.
Most of us aren’t chemistry majors, so its difficult to tell by looking at a products ingredients just how it will affect your body. Take a look at your skincare and bath & body products,
and research the ingredients to be sure. The safest thing you can do is look for all-natural or organic products that don’t try and hide or embellish their ingredients. If in an entire ingredient list, you can only find one or two words you know or have ever even heard of, then chances are, its not the best thing to be putting on your skin, thus into your body.
