Should I take the bus or train to got to NY from Boston for New Years Eve?
I’m planning to go to NY for New Years and I would like to know which company is safer, faster, and possibly cheaper to get there.
I’ve been reading the reviews on all and I’m getting very confused and frustrated!! (I checked BoltBus, Peter Pan, Mega Bus and Amtrak)
Is the train worthy it? Do they (bus/train) cancel the trip because of Weather condition?
Right now I am looking at a difference of about $80.00 more for the train (per ticket).
And if you have taken the bus to NY, which Bus Company is best for that time of the year? (price, service, and schedulewise)
I’ve taken all 4. I prefer Amtrak as it’s quicker and usually more reliable, but as I travel frequently (Philly to New York) it’s not affordable. All three bus lines are fine, but buses have to go on roads so they’re subject to road conditions. Not weather so much unless there’s a weather-related traffic jam. But definitely congestion in New York, especially on the bridges and tunnels, will throw off their schedule.
Mega Bus is my new favorite because of the double deckers and (at least for now) they’re less crowded. Mega Bus and Bolt Bus both have onboard wi-fi which is usually but not always functioning. All three are perfectly comfortable cheap rides which drop you at good downtown locations.
