How safe is a Lotus Exige (2006-2009 models)?
I have been looking at this car for some time now, and i have even been in them. Yes, they handle well, and yes the preform amazingly. I would drive this car about every day if i got one. How safe is this car if i were to get in a crash? I have looked around, even on other yahoo questions, and there is never a true answer. No one ever actually tells you how safe it is. Can someone compare it to another car to give me an idea? (preferably a car with a crash test safety rating) and what this car has to offer that helps make it safe. I don’t expect it to be very safe, but it cant be a death machine on wheels, because no sane man would drive it. can someone tell me as simply as possible how safe is this car in a crash?
Something the two previous answerers forgot to mention is that the Exige is made of very lightweight materials. Much of the body is made of lightweight plastics. Also, the car sits very low, so any side impact is more likely to hit something vital, ie your head. That being said, it is still a safe vehicle, or as safe as such as small car can be. Obviously you’d be safer in a hummer or truck, but this car is tried and tested, if it weren’t safe, it wouldn’t be on the roads.
BTW, great choice, you really don’t see too many of these on the roads, and for someone to appreciate the concept of a great handling lightweight car, over the massive HP of other cars shows a lot about the driver.
