how to get from jfk to long island?
i will fly into jfk and stay at a hotel nearby. the hotel has a shuttle to the train station (i’m assuming penn..but I’ll double check). Exactly what is the safest and cheapest way to get to long island. please include details about transfer. i read the other post, but i’m unclear about where to transfer. Also, I will return to my hotel in the jfk area @ 8pm. Is it safe on the train at that hour? Not familiar with NY.

Long Island is over 100 miles long… you have to be more specific.
But the general answer would be that you take the Air Train to Jamaica Railroad station and then a train to your destination, using a taxi to get you to your ultimate destination.
