Still appropriate for a retail job interview?

I’m 19 years young and I am in badly need of a job. I applied at a bunch of retail stores such as Office Max, Byerly’s, Sears, K-Mart, and got rejected from Hallmark and Best Buy.

I have one simple question to ask. Is it okay to wear a suit to a retail job interview? Or is it too much? Because I don’t want them to think something is wrong with me. Or should I just wear a polo shirt and khaki’s to be on the safe side?

If some of you work as a employer, that would be perfect.

Wear the suit. It’s better to be on the smart side than too casual for an interview.

Good luck!
