Safes Sun Welding

I brought a welding glass to watch tomorrow’s eclipse. How can I know whether it is number 14 welder’s glass?

The glass is so dense that even a switched ON Television can’t be seen through it.
I enquired in the welding shop from which I brought it, they said that they don’t use any numbered welding glasses. They use only one type of glass, which they gave me.
Is it safe to look at the sun through this glass?
Note:
The glass is so dense that even a switched ON Television can’t be seen through it.

if you don’t know for sure that it is, it isn’t. think about what you are risking and act accordingly.

the usual welding glass is number 12, which is not dark enough.

consider a pinhole camera instead. they are perfectly safe, and easy to get right.
