Is it safe to wall mount a 55″ TV ?
I just bought a brand new 55″ Toshiba LCD Flatscreen HDTV and i want it wall mounted in the family room/living room of my brand new house. Ofcourse, I have hired trained professionals Geek Squad from Best Buy to do this However , the TV seems to be very heavy (considering how large it is). Do you think my wall will be able to support such a heavy TV ? I have brought a low-profile tilted wall mount. They’ve made me sign a document that says that they are not responsible for damages to the wall due to the material of the wall. I am scared now. I do understand that they will drill the wall mount onto the wooden support beam and not on the wall but even then. I hpoe the beam doesn’t crack or fall down due to the weight. Whoever’s house I have been to, has a TV as large as 55″ on a TV stand and not wall mounted. I have seen 50″ Plasma TVs wall mounted but that’s the largest size I have seen till date. Puttin my TV on a stand will take a lot of place though.
Consult toshiba or see manual. If both say yes, then its good and wall mount it in assistance of Toshiba, If both say no, then too u can mount BUT ON YOUR OWN RISK with help of carpenters, electricians and wall mounters..
Good luck……
