I am a local cafe owner, and the Germans are threatening to shoot me if I don’t secretly hide some valuable stolen paintings in my basement.

7 Safe Buying Secrets
Most businesses and many homeowners own at least one safe because they play a vital part in protecting important documents and valuables. So, if you’re considering buying a safe you are making a very good decision.
Finding a safe that will protect your cash and jewelry, your passports, wills and birth certificates can be a tricky proposition. However, if you keep these seven “secrets” in mind then you will find the right safe for your needs.
1. Where will you put your safe? One of the larger biometric safes could well more than 1,000 pounds. Therefore, your floor will have to support all of that weight within a two- to four-square foot area. Even if your floor is rated for that amount of weight make sure that it can support it in the limited amount of floor space that your safe will cover.
2. Will you need it delivered? A lot of brick and mortar stores may sell safes at low prices. However it is up to you to get it into your home and to put it in place. Some safes that you can order on the Internet are just delivered to your doorstep. Make sure that the delivery system meets your needs.
3. What kind of lock do you need? If you need a high security lock you might want to consider one of the newer biometric models. They’re getting to be popular because they are a lot easier to open should an emergency arise.

6. Do you need a waterproof and/or fireproof safe? Although these types of safes are more expensive it could be money well spent. If you live in an area that is prone to wildfires or flooding and you own one of these safes you will probably be able to sleep better at night.
7. If you buy a fireproof safe, what is its rating? What you plan on storing in your safe will determine the UL rating you will need. For example, electronic media such as DVDs, CDs, discs, and magnetic tapes will be damaged if the temperature goes over 125 degrees Fahrenheit, while paper begins to char at 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
If you keep these criteria in mind when you buy your safe you will ensure that you have made the right decision.
