living in california! help?
ok, i need help finding a place that is about an hour and a half max from san francisco but that is a nice little area and CHEAP! well, by california standards.
we are moving in 3 months, and all i know is i need to be close to the bay area, but we dont have to be IN it.
anything…
just looking for a place where i wont have to struggle to live, when we could be living comfortably elsewhere. moving to california is my husbands company’s doing, not our choice.
i come from a pretty small town, and i would kind of like to keep it that way.
are there any wonderful places hidden in california that have all the criteria?

You need to be within an hour and a half of San Francisco? That gives you a pretty broad area to search. If you’re looking for a town that is cheaper than the bulk of the Bay Area and isn’t too far (in the greater scheme of things, anyway), I’d probably take a look at Pleasanton.
Really, though, you’ll probably get better answers if you post the upper limit of what you would be willing to spend on a house.
