I’m scared i’ll lose my job, help!?
I’m 18 and this happened just tonight. i work at a fast food place, and i did a cash drop on the register. i dropped $50 but took out $55. when i stappled the money to the receipt i put it in the small safe. but instead of putting the extra $5 in the register i wasn’t even paying attention and put it in my pocket. i then went and bought a pack of cigarettes with the five trying to remember how it got there. i just remembered this. i’m freaked out now cause there’s cameras close to the register, and i remember hearing my supervisor saying after he counted the money and all that technical stuff that we were $6 short. i’m freaked out my boss will look back on the cameras or question me. but it was really just a mistake cause i got distracted by something else and was on “auto pilot”. please give me some advice cause i’m freaking out. thanks
put the 5 back in the drawer next shift, and act like you know nothing.. he’ll think he miscounted your drawer… admit nothing, deny everything, demand proof… in this case, just blow it off… relax, we all spend 99.9% of our worry time, worrying about stuff we don’t need to worry about… relax, if something happens, you’ll have plenty of time to worry then….or even just do nothing, and let it play out, because doing something such as I said, might bring more attention to what really is a monir problem, when you handle money, sometimes you come up short, it’s a fact, ask him if you come up OVER, will he give that to you? of course he’ll say NO, so then tell him, you don’t knwo what happened…. relax….
