What is the best & safest way to invest my $60,000?
I have this amount deposited in Bank of America (prima+checking account). It’s only earning a very small interest. Can you recommend a better way of investing this? Investing in stocks is not my option. Thank you.
Considering that (1) “investing in stocks in not my option” and you are using bank savings, there are two real directions.
First, you can shop for another (FDIC participating) bank that offers a higher rate. Your amount is under both the temporary 250k and normal 100k limits for government protection.
Second, reexamine the idea of investments, as in putting money to work in some capacity. If you can’t or won’t employ stocks, then perhaps stocking up on something you think you have a market for. Use some of this money to start a business with something you know how to do, or with something you know people who are interested in buying it. This is not to say you stock $50,000 of Amway soap in your garage and go peddle it to the neighbors (you can still do that, but keep a much smaller stock if you want to offer immediate delivery for some major items). You might invest in a franchise, hire some good people and let them make it work for you.
As for safest, shop for better bank rates. As for best, that is really something that only the workings between your ears can figure what will work for you. (work is an important word there). Good luck.
