Under the table pay for house keeper work, what are the risk if any?
My wife work as a housekeeper five days a week and make $800 a week in cash. We spend the money of toys, food, trips, and luxuries.
I claim her on my taxes as if she does not work. Are there risk in this and is it safe to keep the money in a bank or should we keep it in bill around the house. What could happen by doing this? There is no proof that she works at all or any proof of money exchange, could the IRS ask where did you get the nice furniture or how did you afford to go to rome?
Well, obviously, it’s tax evasion. If the IRS finds out, you can get nailed for years of penalties and interest.
