Is my budgie bell safe?
I’ve been reading that metal toys may not be safe, ie zinc and copper can poison birds? How can I tell if mine is safe?
You should take care to make sure that any metals your bird comes into contact with are stainless steel or nickel plated. Both are safe for your bird and many good avian vendors carry stainless and/or nickel plated toys and toy parts (including bells
Do make certain that you only use the “Liberty-type” bell with a firmly attached clapper. Stay away from the “Jingle-type” bells with the slits. Those slits have cost many a bird one or more toes.
Good luck with your bird and keep learning! Sounds like you’re doing a good job.
