Toddlers with fake guns, okay or not okay?
We have guns in our home and they are locked away in a safe, or locked in my husband’s truck, the one in the truck is not loaded, however he keeps the bullets locked in the glove box. He bought my son a fake gun and he loves it. He is 13 mos. old. He runs around shooting it and now its his favorite toy. I think its because its new. I told my husband I don’t think its such a good idea, but he insists he wants to teach him about guns and what is real, and what is fake, and how to handle them correctly when he gets older. He thinks its no big deal, and part of being a little boy. What do you think.
He’s not being violent with the gun, lol. My husband watches gunsmoke at night, and my husband shoots when they shoot the guns. IDK if that is considered violent?

Wow, I would hope that my parenting skills would prevent him from shooting me, not just getting rid of guns in the home. Hmm.
we have the same problem. we own a gun and because of that I didn’t want our two year old to have toy guns, my logic is “if we are going to have guns in the house then he cant think they are toys”… well my husband doesnt agree and he buys my son toy guns all the time. he likes playing with guns so much he will pretend anything is a “pow pow”, he even got sent home from preschool because he kept shooting the kids! its a losing battle for me so I just try to teach him gun safety whenever i can.
