What is a cheap alternative to a gunsafe?
first of all I am a student and still living at home so bolting something into the wall is going to be a no no with my mom.
otherwise I have about 4 handguns a rifle and a shotgun. What’s a good way to store them together other than using a safe. on a budget.
There are a few “tricks” you can use to conceal them inside your home or apartment so that they are not so easily stolen.
Thieves generally wish to get in and out of a dwelling as quickly as possible. It’s not like they want to hang around, since the owner or any number of other people might see them there and call the police or at least get a good look at them. So, they try to go in and out in 20 minutes time.
If you can’t afford a gun safe, then the trick is to conceal the firearms. Some of the tricks are to use an old water heater that has broken down. Remove the guts of the thing and then use it as a storage place for your guns. Most criminals won’t realize that you had more than one water heater in your home; they are not going to be paying that much attention.
Other appliances like non-working washers and dryers also make decent hiding areas, if you can remove the backs and gut the inner-workings. You can use butterfly nuts to make the task of removing the back panels easier.
You can buy hollowed-out books or make them yourself with a little ingenuity. Good places to keep handguns. Thieves will usually not be looking to steal heavy books that are worth 50 cents at garage sales.
All of the above are means of keeping your guns from being stolen. If the issue is small children, then it’s a whole different story, since kids get into everything!
