Wayne Nj Safest Town

Can you recommend some nice areas in NJ?

So I’m very interested in the following NJ areas: Wayne, Lincoln Park, and Fairfield. I’m looking to buy a house for my family of four. The area must be safe and have good schools. It also must be close to NYC. We were very interested in Chatham, but it was too far from NYC. However, that is the kind of quaint community we are looking for. It has a pretty little town and it’s not industrial. These three areas are close to NYC and have some nice houses available. Which do you recommend out of the three? Plus, I’m open to others. Thanks so much.

Wayne…but be careful in what area, re heavy rain. Some parts of Wayne tends to get flooded via the Passaic River.

Fairfield’s close to Wayne, is off 46W, however again, be careful. Parts of Fairfield were flooded out last winter.

Do research, do a drive-by of your desired area if possible, and notice whether or not it’s near a river, or stream, or is low-lying.

There’s Glen Ridge, Montclair, West and South Orange, and Verona (Essex County Townships). With West Orange, no problem, but part of it’s in the valley, and some of those parts border Orange-not really a good area. The other part’s on the hill – better.

Again, research and check out in person, if possible. Also speak to your desired township Police Dept. for crime stats (or it may be online).

Good luck
